Mantle will weave dance, narration, sound composition and a striking set design into a highly visual and poetic theatrical experience. Mantle will begin in complete darkness, transporting the audience to the inner core of the Earth. From this inner core, the audience will follow the journey of one woman as she travels to the Earth’s surface. From the dark inner core, to the heated and tumultuous mantle, to the Earth’s crust, her journey will move through the Earth’s structure and traverse geological time and shifting physical states. The audience will travel with her, from the core of darkness to the lighted surface through a series of compelling images and an epic soundscape.

This new theatre work explores the psychological and physical linking of local geology and people. Contemplating the vastness of geological time and notions of surfacing and light, My Darling Patricia has created a work that plunges into what lies beneath our feet.

Mantle is My Daring Patricia’s eighth major production and is produced in partnership with Campbelltown Arts Centre.
