C-A-C hosted Mudburra (Marlinja, NT) woman and singer/songwriter, Eleanor Dixon with collaborator, Edi Donald in a two week artistic residency writing and recording new acoustic based songs under the name, Anya meaning ‘Now’ in Mudburra language.
Dixon and Donald were joined for the residency by percussionist Shontal Klose and cellist Mary Rapp. As part of the residency, Eleanor and Edi shared their knowledge and skills with 20 local Indigenous school children at Briar Road Public School and the 15 members of Wiritjiribin Aboriginal Girls Dance group.
The residency concluded with a public performance at C-A-C with support from local Aboriginal singer Maddison Collier. Local audiences enjoyed this wonderful opportunity to hear the powerful and beautiful songs and stories from Eleanor’s Mudburra country.
