Imperial Slacks was a social and cultural experiment that functioned as the home, studio and gallery space of 16 emerging artists. Their collective incandescent energy and alternate way of thinking created a pulse beyond the gallery into life with the same intensity and sense of chaos.

Imperial Slacks burnt bright during its time and they were redefining the future which was all about risk. They knew no boundaries and they set their independent agenda’s while claiming a special place in Australian Contemporary Art.

Cosmic Love Wonder Lust was a clash of past and present, but what is extraordinary is that the work produced at the time is still relevant, more than ever before. Campbelltown Arts Centre and Sydney College of the Arts Galleries profiled the existing works and new commissions of Imperial Slacks, representing the complexity of hybrid practices.

As part of the exhibition at Campbelltown Arts Centre, existing works by Imperial Slacks artists were shown along side new commissions by artists Alex Davies, Chris Fox, Claire Healy and Sean Cordeiro, Emma Price, Léa Donnan, and Melody Willis.
