BIG PINKO: CY & DUSTY
2009
Visual Arts, Public Art
Artist/s: Tony Schwensen, André Stitt
BIG PINKO was a full day durational performance work commissioned by Campbelltown Arts Centre from the internationally acclaimed multidisciplinary artists, Tony Schwensen and André Stitt .
BIG PINKO saw Schwensen and Stitt take on the roles of Cy & Dusty, house painters who aspire to being artists with a social conscience. Together they will transform a house in Minto by covering its entirety in pink paint and creating a large scale sculptural element in the streetscape. By assimilating external and internal architectural space, BIG PINKO was a site-specific performance alluding to states of institutional and communal planning, order and disorder, and the everyday relationships between work, place, family and community specific to the residents and environment of Minto.
