Dis/place: Making Work in Exile presented the work of artists from refugee and migrant backgrounds in a project developed through Campbelltown Arts Centre in collaboration with the Museum of Contemporary Art Sydney and Information and Cultural Exchange. First developed in association with Mona Hatoum: Over My Dead Body, the project combined professional development and exhibition outcomes to support artists whose practices responded to exile, displacement and migration. The exhibition positioned CAC as a site for intercultural dialogue and for the presentation of perspectives often underrepresented in mainstream institutions. Through painting, text and installation, participating artists examined borders, memory and belonging while building professional networks and visibility within the contemporary art sector.
