Through the Performance Program, Campbelltown Arts Centre has facilitated professional development opportunities for artists with disabilities. In 2012 and 2013 Kevin Jackson ran a series of theatre workshops at the Centre that culminated in a showing for the participants of the performance exercises that they learnt.
Over a series of 9 weeks of workshops artists Liam Benson, Kay Armstrong and Kate Blackmore taught 15 students from Mater Dei School performance techniques and assisted the participants to develop their own performances. Using a collaborative process, Liam, Kay and the students generated performances that in the final 2 weeks of the workshop program were filmed and edited together by Kate to create a new 3-channel video work titled Extraordinary/Ordinary.
This project offered each participant an opportunity to participate in the development of a new video work. undertake a series of performance workshops and explore contemporary arts practice through performance and video art practice.
